Exploring Indigenous Conversion and Its Consequences in the 17th Century.” \nSt. Kateri Tekakwitha was among the first indigenous of what is now Canada and the U.S. who converted through the Jesuit missionaries. Her life was of sacrifice whereas other indigenous converts suffered martyrdom.
