Theology Uncorked welcomes Beth Lynch, Pilgrimage Coordinator and Saints of Auriesville Museum Manager at the National Shrine Our Lady of Martyrs, Auriesville, NY.
Beth Lynch’s title for her talk will be “Why did St. Kateri Tekakwitha Convert to Catholicism? Exploring Indigenous Conversion and Its Consequences in the 17th Century.”
St. Kateri Tekakwitha was among the first indigenous of what is now Canada and the U.S. who converted through the Jesuit missionaries. Her life was of sacrifice whereas other indigenous converts suffered martyrdom. Explore their embrace of their new faith and its heroic consequences.
Since 2008, Beth has been researching and interpreting the inspirational stories of the North American Martyrs and St. Kateri Tekakwitha in giving pilgrimage tours, writing articles, giving presentations, appearing on podcasts, and on several EWTN programs.
She is a parishioner at Annunciation Church in Ilion where she serves as sacristan and lecturer. She leads a weekly rosary for residents at a local rehab center.
